Welcome to Merit Brush Recs! We are a recommendations posting community for fanworks of all kinds (fic, vids, art, etc.) for 镇魂 | Guardian (both the novel and drama), related RPF, and other projects starring the lead actors, Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong. This includes commercials in which they play characters clearly separate from their own public personas.

Showcase Sundays
Please note that Sundays are reserved for non-fic recs only. Non-fic recs are welcomed and encouraged at all times, but we wanted to have a day to spotlight them. This is Sunday of your local time zone; no need to check a conversion clock.
Wayback Wednesdays
The last Wednesday of each month is reserved for recs of fanworks older than six months only. Recs of older fanworks are welcomed and encouraged at all times, but we wanted to have a day when they are the focus. This is the last Wednesday of the month in your local time zone; no need to check a conversion clock.

Guidelines
Below are the guidelines for posting to the community, as well as the template we ask you to use for each rec.
1. Only one rec per post, up to four posts per person per day. Think of it as one per Holy Tool.
2. Only recs of complete works. A person can rec a series that's still in progress as one rec, provided at least one work in the series is complete and posted in its entirety. The rec can link to the series page, if there is one, or to the first work in the series, provided it has a link to the next work in the series.
3. No self-promotion/self-recs.
4. No commenting to trash somebody else's rec. We all have different tastes, and that's okay.
5. Do not use merit_brush_recs as a story finder. Any posts that are not recs will be deleted, and all recs must include a link to the recced fanwork.
6. All recced fanfic and podfic must be in English. English translations of fanworks in other languages are welcome.
7. Please check the past week's worth of recs to see if someone has recommended the fanwork you intend to rec, especially if the fanwork is recent. If it has already been recommended the same week, please save your rec for another time, and rec something else.
8. Always rec in a new post, not in the comments to someone else's rec post.
9. Tag your rec with the appropriate canon, characters, ships, category, creator, and themes. If a tag does not exist, ask the mods to create it in your post. Please note that, due to the upper limit on the number of tags an account can have, no "theme: au" tags will go deeper than one tier, e.g. "theme: au: canon divergence." Posts can be tagged with multiple themes, to overcome this limitation and customize a rec.
10. Your subject line should read: Fanwork Type: Title of Work by Creator Name
Use this template for rec posts, deleting those items not relevant to the type of fanwork you are reccing:

You don't have to rec anything. You are welcome to hang out and enjoy checking out other people's recommendations. But why not tell us about your favorite works in these beautiful fandoms, and spread the love?
Also, if you have any questions for the mods, please don't hesitate to reach out. Comments to this post are screened.
